Campus Information
  • G / T
The Gifted and Talented Program is a general academic program, which incorporates the four core academic areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies into its curriculum in order to meet the needs of students in grades
K-12, who are intellectually or academically gifted, by providing an array of learning opportunities that are commensurate with their academic abilities. Each campus provides gifted and talented students with services in all core subject areas or in their area of strength that allows for flexible pacing, in-depth exploration, and independent investigation of topics of interest.

    Elementary Program Design: Grades K-5

The Gifted and Talented Program in grades K-5 emphasizes a product-based curriculum that focuses on the development of a product or series of products by an individual student or group of students through depth and complexity. The process of product development is as important as the product itself, and the learning that takes place as the product is developed is the key to the success of the program.

Middle School Program Design: Grades 6-8

Gifted and talented students in grades 6-8 are served through Pre-Advanced Placement courses in the four core academic content areas. The curriculum in Pre-AP courses is differentiated for gifted learners with the expectation of advanced level products. It is not required for gifted and talented students to take Pre-AP courses in all four core subjects. Students may select as many Pre-AP courses as suits their individual abilities and interests. However, gifted and talented students must enroll in at least one Pre-AP course per semester.

High School Program Design: Grades 9-12

Gifted and talented students in grades 9-12 are served through Future Problem Solving, G/T Independent Study, and Pre-Advanced/Advanced Placement courses in the four core academic areas. The curriculum in these courses is differentiated for gifted learners with the expectation of advanced level/professional products. It is not required for gifted and talented students to take Pre-AP or AP courses in all four core subjects. Students may select as many of these courses as suits their individual abilities and interests. However, gifted and talented students must enroll in at least one Pre-AP, AP, FPS, or G/T Independent Study course per semester.
  • Accelerated Reader
AR is provided for all students in all grade levels. AR is based on the premise that reading improvement is positively correlated with the amount of time students spend reading. Students voluntarily read as many books as they want. After reading a book, the student uses a computer to take a test of comprehension and understanding. The student's score on the test is used to award points which are based on the students age, grade and the reading difficulty level of the book. These points become incentives to read, and students use the points to buy items in the campus AR store and to cash in for special privileges.
  • AR
The Accelerated Reader is an easy-to-use computer-based tool that inspires kids to read more and better books. It combines the best children's literature with intuitive software that tests comprehension. This software also manages all student records and reliably tracks reading performance.

Each student selects his or her own reading material, then reads at a comfortable pace. With the book completed, the student works through a computerized multiple-choice test. The program provides an instant score and immediate reinforcement in a way that's both encouraging and fun.
  • Go Math
The District's regular textbook math program is reinforced and supplemented by the use of Go Math programs in the elementary grade levels. Secondary math students benefit from honors, advanced honors, dual credit and advanced placement courses.

SchoolBlocks offers a unique and powerful personalized search system. A member of the public, searching for "homework" might see an announcement from the school as the first result. However, if the user is logged in, they would see their teacher’s latest homework assignment as the top result.
